Utah Tech University

Strategic Partnerships

Mission

Utah Tech University’s Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) establishes and advances relationships with corporations, foundations, non-profit organizations, and government entities. OSP promotes the university’s open, inclusive, comprehensive, polytechnic mission by facilitating long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships that have an impact across Utah, the Mountain West region, and the nation.

Each alliance is unique. Utah Tech University offers opportunities for companies from all industries to engage with faculty, staff, and students in meaningful ways. Whether organizations are looking to increase their visibility, share expertise in the classroom, connect with top research talent, or recruit the next generation of innovators and leaders, the UT team of expert connectors looks forward to working with potential partners.

WHY PARTNER WITH UT?

Companies meet highly qualified talent.

As the UT instructional model is “active learning, active life,” businesses receive real-world problem solving from students. These may be realized through internships, co-ops, career placements, and more. Partners may also be mentors so students are career-ready with the collaborating group.

Organizations expand and enhance their innovation and applied research efforts

UT is quickly becoming a national center of excellence for transformation and entrepreneurship through the high-impact work at Atwood Innovation Plaza, as well as the insights and discoveries at the university’s colleges. Businesses join forces with faculty, staff, and students to leverage their expertise and resources for sponsoring projects, commercialization, capstone programs, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Advocates take advantage of Utah Tech's continuing and professional education resources.

This includes furthering employee know-how through technology-enabled offerings and accelerated programs. Businesses can develop their workforce by using the university’s wide array of professional and executive education options.

Business and non-profit colleagues help shape curricula while sharing knowledge through masterclasses, guest speaker presentations, and advisory board placements.

University faculty and staff work with contemporaries and global cohorts to exchange ideas and produce up-to-date courses and classroom materials to ensure students have the latest and applicable knowledge and skills. Strategic partners can infuse their aptitudes into each of UT’s programs.

Industry experts provide educational resources to students, faculty, and staff.

Ideally, these are affordable, openly licensed and public domain tools for teaching and learning. Materials vary from podcasts, research data, webinars, coursework, blogs, and beyond.

Companies enter into joint ventures with UT to solve complex business, social, environmental, and economic challenges.

Utah Tech creates synergies while providing cost/benefit advantages to partners in energy, health, research, science, and the humanities and arts. The university builds brands, solves problems, and improves communities. Businesses and foundations can advance research while licensing the university’s technology and research.

Organizations increase visibility on campus.

Businesses, industry associations, non-profits, and foundations gain visibility and build brand awareness across campus while supporting Utah Tech’s mission. Philanthropic partners assist by supporting scholarships, branding facilities and rooms, endowing faculty, matching gifts, subsidizing grants, funding activities and programs, building innovative spaces, and more.
